Training your puppy NOT to bite

5 effective tips for training your puppy not to bite:

  1. Closely supervise your puppy's playtime and intervene if they start to bite.

  2. Redirect their attention to a toy or a chew bone and encourage them to chew on that instead.

  3. If your puppy continues to bite, remove them from the situation and place them in a timeout area for a few minutes. This helps teach them that biting leads to the end of play time.

  4. Reward their good behaviour. So whenever your puppy is being gentle with their mouth be sure to praise and reward them with treats and affection.

  5. Finally, be consistent and set boundaries for you puppy from the very beginning.

3 Dog Toy Types to Correct Behavioural Problems:

  1. Puzzle toys, such as a Kong, can help to engage your dog's mind and provide mental stimulation. These can be especially helpful for dogs who are prone to destructive behaviour.

  2. Chew toys can help satisfy your dog's natural desire to gnaw and can help prevent them from chewing on inappropriate items.

  3. Interactive toys, such as tug toys can provide physical and mental stimulation for your dog and can help strengthen the bond between you and them.
